Light Life: A Luxurious and Relaxing Residential Space

An Exclusive Design by Hsuan-Cheng Chuang

This newly constructed house, located in New Taipei City, is a testament to the vision and creativity of designer Hsuan-Cheng Chuang. The proprietor, a successful businessman in his fifties, wanted to create an exclusive and relaxing space for himself. Chuang understood the client's needs and transformed them into a stunning design that showcases his expertise and passion.

The interior area of this project spans approximately 73 square feet, and every inch is meticulously designed to create a harmonious and inviting atmosphere. The designer's inspiration came from the desire to strike the perfect balance between light and shade, utilizing elements from nature to craft an inventive and captivating space.

One of the standout features of this design is the kitchen island, strategically placed to cater to the proprietor's love for wine tasting and entertaining friends. Despite encroaching on the dining area, Chuang skillfully utilizes iron wares and titanium-coated plates to create a luxurious texture that sets this space apart. The result is a unique corner in the house that becomes the focal point of family life.

Chuang's attention to detail is evident throughout the design. From the metal grilles covering the vestibule to the sliding doors in the bedroom, every element is carefully considered to balance Chinese Feng Shui principles and storage functionality. The designer's ingenuity and clever details are apparent, creating a space that not only looks visually stunning but also serves its purpose seamlessly.

One of the challenges faced by Chuang was the lack of natural lighting in the original space. However, through strategic reorganization of the interior layout, changes in door openings, and flooring coverings, the designer transformed this limitation into an advantage. The result is a more spacious and open living area, maximizing the available light and creating a sense of expansiveness.

Light Life is more than just a residential space; it is a sanctuary that provides the proprietor with a much-needed retreat from his busy life. The design aims to create an ambiance that makes coming home feel like embarking on a journey of relaxation and rejuvenation. Chuang's meticulous attention to detail and thoughtful selection of materials ensure that every aspect of the design contributes to this goal.

In recognition of its excellence, Light Life was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in 2021. This prestigious award is given to designs that are well-designed, practical, and innovative, meeting professional and industrial requirements. The design's integration of industry best practices and competent technical characteristics contributes to a better world, providing fulfillment and positive feelings.
